RAN
Profile

Formed in November 18th 2006, RAN is the acronym from the 3 members, Rayi (vocal/rap), Asta (guitar) and Nino (vocal). They studied at the same high school. Rayi and Asta, who were in the same level made a band with their schoolmates named F.R.D., which had won band festivals, and once played in Malaysia as well. When they graduated, they decided to disperse the band. So at that time, Rayi and Asta just made and arrange songs in Asta’s room.

They hung outwith Nino who was their junior in high school soon after that. Joining in Asta’s place making songs. Then when they joined Insof (Indonesian Song Festival) in Jakarta, they got the 2nd place. So they decided to make a group, since they felt that they have the congruence in making songs. They named the group RAN.

A producer from KEP Media and Universal Music Indonesia soon offered them to make an album after that. So they recorded their first album titled “RAN For Your Life”, and released it in December 2007. The group band defined their music as fun, fresh, and friendly. The pop creative RAN offers music lovers many genres, such as R&B, soul, hip hop, jazz, reggae, dance, etc. Their first single “Pandangan Pertama” got 1st place in some TV & radio charts.  Apparently, many people loves these 3 boys and RAN happened to get 130,000 and more fans in their Friendster account, and also 102,000 and more in their Facebook page.

Supported by talented additional music players, they make dynamic arrangements on their live performances. Local medias gives good praises for RAN’s music and can be seen in many good album reviews they wrote.

RAN’s performance in Java Jazz 2008 was watched by more than 3,000 people, and they got it filmed and released in DVD version; “RAN Live at Java Jazz Festival 2008”.

RAN was also chosen as a brand ambassador for Wall’s Conello. They got “Rookie of the Year” in Rolling Stone Editor’s Choice Award 2009, and also “Best Group/Duo” in Kids Choice Awards 2009 which was held by Nickelodeon.

RAN has just released their 2nd album titled “Friday” in August 2009, which gets many good feedback from public and the medias too. They were also invited to perform in Carnaval SoundNation 2009 in Melbourne, Australia. The band now is busy promoting the second album, Playing on gigs, and preparing material for the third album. MAKNA DIBALIK PATUNG PATUNG DI JAKARTA

1. Patung Selamat Datang
Nama plesetan : Patung jali-jali, patung HI
Patung Selamat Datang dibangun buat nyambut para atlit peserta Asian Games IV tahun 1962. Patung ini ada di depan gedung Hotel Indonesia yang mana berdiri persis diatas air mancur bunderan HI. Patung perunggu ini dibuat sama Edhi Sunarso, dan dirancang sama Henk Ngantung mantan Gubernur Jakarta. Sesuai sama namanya, patung ini berdiri untuk ngasih salam selamat datang buat para pendatang karena emang patung ini ngadep ke arah Kota (Utara) sebagai pusat bisnis, perdagangan dan pendatang dari pelabuhan waktu itu.
Disekitar patung ini ada lima formasi Air Mancur yang dijadiin simbol ideologi Negara Republik Indonesia, Pancasila. Katanya sih ini juga jadi simbol dari tanda memberi salam kepada kota Jakarta sebagai kota Ibu Negara dan Kota Metropolitan dengan formasi ucapan Selamat Pagi, Selamat Siang, Selamat Petang, Selamat Malam dan Selamat Hari Minggu. Maksudnya Jakarta emang gak pernah tidur kali yeee..
2. Patung Arjuna Wijaya/ Patung Asta Brata
Nama plesetan : Patung kuda setan, Patung delman
Patung Arjuna Wijaya yang dibangun Agustus 1987 ini ngegambarin Arjuna dalam perang Baratayudha yang kereta perangnya ’disetirin’ sama Batara Kresna. Adegan patung karya pematung Nyoman Nuarta itu diambil dari fragmen waktu mereka melawan Adipati Karna. Kereta itu ditarik delapan kuda, yang melambangkan delapan ajaran kehidupan yang diidolai oleh Presiden Soeharto. Asta Brata itu meliputi falsafah bahwa hidup harus mencontoh bumi, matahari, api, bintang, samudra, angin, hujan dan bulan. Di bagian patung itu nempel prasasti yang bertuliskan ‘Kuhantarkan kau melanjutkan perjuangan dengan pembangunan yang tidak mengenal akhir.’
Pada waktu pembuatannya, karena keterbatasan dana, akhirnya patung itu dibuat dari bahan poliester resin yang punya kelemahan mudah rapuh jika terkena sinar ultraviolet. Emang kebukti kok kalu patung ini mulai keropos, sampe akhirnya tahun 2003, patung ini direnovasi dengan menelan biaya 4M (4 miliar, bukan 4 meter!!!) dan material patungnya diganti dengan bahan tembaga.
3. Patung Dirgantara
Nama plesetan: Superman, Patung’hey kamu’, Patung Pancoran
Patung yang ada didaerah pancoran ini dirancang sama Edhi Sunarso sekitar tahun 1964 - 1965 dengan bantuan dari Keluarga Arca Yogyakarta atas permintaan Bung Karno buat nampilin keperkasaan dan kekuatan angkatan udara bangsa Indonesia. Patung ini ngadep ke Utara dengan tangannya mengacung ke bekas Bandar Udara Internasional Kemayoran. Lokasinya deket sama Markas Besar Angkatan Udara di Selatannya dan Bandar Udara Domestik Halim Perdana Kusuma di Tenggaranya. Karena bertempat di kawasan Pancoran makanya patung ini sering dibilang patung Pancoran. Oia, ada gosip yang bilang kalo Presiden Soekarno harus jual mobilnya buat ngebiayain pembuatan patung ini. 
4. Patung Pahlawan
Nama plesetan : Patung Pak Tani dan Ibu tani 
Patung ini dibuat buat ngasih penghargaan pada para pejuang kemerdekaan Indonesia, dilambangin dengan seorang laki-laki yang make caping, nyandang senapan dan lagi minta restu pada wanita yang ada disisinya untuk maju ke medan perang. Mungkin karena suka pake caping itu kali yaa orang-orang jadi bilangnya itu patung Pak Tani. Tapi katanya sih, patung ini juga simbolisasi gerakan politik petani.
Ide patung ini dimulai waktu Soekarno ke Moskow dan doi terkesan banget sama patung-patung yang ada disana. Kemudian Presiden Rusia saat itu ngenalin Soekarno ke seniman patung, Matvei Manizer dan anaknya Otto Manizer. Mereka pun diundang dateng ke Indonesia untuk ngebuat patung yang melambangkan semangat kemerdekaan. Disinilah kedua pematung itu berkelana dan nemuin legenda Jawa Barat yang berkisah tentang seorang Ibu yang mengiringi anaknya untuk pergi berperang. Sang Ibu ngasih semangat supaya memenangkan setiap peperangan dan selalu inget sama orang tua dan negaranya. Patung perunggu ini dibuat di Rusia dan dibawa ke Indonesia pake kapal laut, diresmikan tahun 1963 oleh Presiden Soekarno dan pada papan di monumen ini tertulis "Bangsa yang menghargai pahlawannya adalah bangsa yang besar".
5. Patung Pemuda Membangun
Nama plesetan : Pizza Man, Patung Laki-laki bawa obor
Patung ini dibuat sebagai penghargaan untuk pemuda dan pemudi dalam keikut sertaannya pada pembangunan Indonesia. Patung ini dilambangin sama seorang pemuda gagah dan kuat sedang memegang piring berisi api yang tak pernah padam sebagai perwujudan semangat pembangunan yang tak pernah mati. Awalnya direncanain untuk diremiin di Hari Sumpah Pemuda tanggal 28 Oktober 1971, tapi karena pembangunan belum selesai akhirnya diresmiin pada bulan Maret 1972. Patung ini terletak di Bunderan Senayan, tempat strategis sebagai titik temu antara Senayan sebagai pintu gerbang Jakarta Pusat dengan area Jakarta Selatan.
